IN LAKE WORTH, FLORIDA, WEDNESDAY NIGHT a man wearing a ski mask broke into the property yard of the American Medical Response (AMR) headquarters and poured sugar-water into the tanks of 18 ambulances.
The vandalism wasn’t discovered until Thursday when several ambulances broke down while responding to calls.
On Friday an employee of the company was arrested and charged with felony criminal mischief. Ten bottles of a sugary liquid, along with a ski mask, funnel and rubber gloves were found in his car. Ryan O’Conner, 21, admitted to police that he was responsible, but did not say why he did it.
Palm Beach TV Channel 5 interviewed O’Conner yesterday and he tried to justify his actions. O’Connor says he planned this vandalism as a way to bring attention to his complaints about AMR. “I reported several things to management and nothing was taken seriously.”
