*  It was 61 years ago today that the deadliest hotel fire in American history happened.  The “fireproof” Winecoff Hotel in Atlanta burned and 119 people, including several firefighters, died.  Dave Statter at STATter911 has a terrific recap of the fire along with a story about the young man who took a Pulitzer Prize-winning photo HERE.  (It was recently announced that the building will be re-opening as a hotel again this coming Spring)

*  FirefighterSpot has some fresh video including an example of how fire races through a balloon-construction dwelling HERE.  He also covers another LODD resultant from 9/11.

*  The Housewatch has posted a power-point show called “Big Water, Fast” showing ways to deliver the big gpm’s when you need ‘em HERE.

*  FireNews.net tells us HERE that the No. Carolina Fire Marshal’s Assoc. is pushing for a code change this month to require residential sprinklers in newly-built large houses.

*  VAFireNews reports HERE that one of the Smith Mountain Lake fireboats was found to be sunk when crews responded to use it on a call.
