Comments Off

FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN LESS THAN A MONTH a suspicious fire has caused major damages to a Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania,  dwelling.  Three of the four have been vacant properties, but one of them was occupied.

Last night at 10:08 pm the W-B lads arrived on the scene to find a vacant house fully involved.  They were forced to concentrate their efforts on the side B exposure which was occupied.

The Wilkes-Barre Citizens Voice reports that:

Neighbor Ron Petrovich said he was upstairs when “the whole building shook.  That place was engulfed in 30 seconds. Every window had flames coming out of it,” he said.

The elderly man who owned 44 New Frederick St. moved to a nursing home, and a “for sale” sign went up at the house a week ago, Petrovich said.

Utilities were turned off in the vacant house, so the cause of the fire is questionable and will be investigated, Police Sgt. Joseph Novak said.
