THE HARLINGEN, TEXAS, FIRE DEPARTMENT was participating in a scheduled fire drill at the Valley Baptist Medical Center on Monday afternoon.

However, an unscheduled part of the drill included part of the hospital’s roadway collapsing under the weight of the pumper. It has been determined that an underground water leak eroded the earth underneath the pavement causing the collapse. Nobody was injured.
