SOMEBODY BROKE INTO THE MARTIN COUNTY, INDIANA, prosecutor’s office in the town of Shoals Saturday and set the place afire, causing extensive damage.

The Associated Press reports:
The fire was discovered about 8:05 p.m. Saturday by two juveniles who spotted smoke billowing from the prosecutor’s office as they were walking nearby in the city about 90 miles southwest of Indianapolis.  When they reached the building, the juveniles noticed that a side door window had been shattered and then saw a man inside the building, the statement said.

The pair ran across the street to notify the town marshal, but when he arrived he found the building on fire but no sign of the man the juveniles had seen inside the building.

Sunday afternoon the Indiana State Police arrested Cary Lee Clifton, 26, of Shoals in connection with the case.  Several items were taken from the Martin County Prosecutor’s Office Saturday, the same day the building was set fire.       Clifton has not been charged with arson but he’s facing a class-D felony charge for possessing stolen property.  The ISP spokesman said Clifton had items from the prosecutor’s office.  Clifton was locked up without bond as of Sunday evening.
