AFTER THREE YEARS OF LOBBYING and politicking, an arbitration board awarded the Beaumont, Texas, Firefighters a 3-year 27% pay raise. But all that was thrown out the window yesterday when the Court of Appeals ruled that the arbitration board has exceeded its authority during the considerations and nullified the settlement.
But during the bargaining period there was an election and the FF’s have a more friendly city council now and they believe that there will be a satisfactory settlement before the end of the year.
