One Body Found In Warwick Ruins
Update: Additional video posted below
IT IS BEING REPORTED THAT JUST HOURS AGO the search teams at the Warwick, UK, fire site have recoverd a body from the building.
While it is still unknown if any workers are also trapped under the wreckage, the fire officials are certain that this is one of the missing firefighters.
Glen Ranger, deputy chief fire officer for Warwickshire, said: “I am certain we have found one of the firefighters who died while fighting this fire. Over 200 personnel will now continue to work tirelessly until we find the remains of our missing colleagues.”
The original search plans called for the survey to be finished sometime last night, but the instability of the building has caused frequent stoppages in the search. Shortly after finding this body they had to stop once again because there are indications that the building is about to collapse.
The BBC reports:
The building is structurally unsafe and special monitoring equipment has been put in place around it to check for movements. A steel girder fell during the search on Monday.
Police forensic teams are also inside the warehouse investigating the cause of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious, and items are being removed for analysis.
