Retired Battalion Chief Runs For Congress

FOR SEVEN YEARS, JO ANN DAVIS served the 1st District of Virginia in the U. S. House of Representatives.  A very popular Congressman in a heavily-Republican district, she always won re-election handily and with the endorsements of the IAFF locals in her district.

After a two-year battle with cancer, she passed away last month.  She was a strong supporter on Firefighter issues and had some good insight on them, for her husband was a career firefighter with the Hampton Fire Department, retiring as a battalion chief.

Charles “Chuck” Davis has announced that he will be running in the special election to fill out the remainder of his wife’s term.  The 58-yr.-old will be competing in the Republican district convention to win the nomination of the party.  The nominee will run in the special election which will probably be held on Dec. 11.
