A DUNDEE, SCOTLAND, PARAMEDIC has invented a spinal stabilization device that was primarily designed to facilitate auto extrications. Called the “Resqroll,” its big feature is the ability to give full support to the head and cervical area before attempting to move the victim.

Brian Carlin, 39, a paramedic and clinical educator with NHS Education for Scotland (NES), first came up with the idea for Resqroll five years ago.
Working with a £10,000 grant from the government-funded National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts, along with a specialist textile company, he has developed the prototype and had it field tested.
