ASBURY PARK, NEW JERSEY, JUST SOUTH OF NYC, is the scene of an ongoing high-rise fire that started just before noon today. Reportedly, 70% of the residents are senior citizens. One resident was found unconscious by firefighters and has been taken to the hospital.
The fire is on one of the upper floors of the 16-story building and has spread into the unit just above the apartment where the main fire is located.

There are early reports of several injuries, but details are still sketchy. The story will be updated as later reports arrive.

Update, 3:00 pm: It is now believed that there were 7 injuries to residents plus 3 FF injuries. The resident of the unit on fire is an 80-yr.-old woman who was found unconscious and is in critical conditions. She has been transferred to the University of Pennsylvania hospital for specialized treatment of high carbon monoxide levels.
