FOR THE THIRD TIME IN TWO MONTHS, a major fire has occurred in a seaside resort in England. This morning it was in Blackpool where a fire swept through a 4-story hotel, killing one guest, and spreading to another hotel next door to it.

The victim was rescued by firemen but died after being pulled from the flames which engulfed the Manor Hotel in Blackpool, Lancs, at around 3.25am. Part of the hotel collapsed and firemen were checking the building to ensure no other occupants were trapped inside. Since this is off-season, occupancy was light in all the hotels.
Overall, about 60 people were led to safety from the area. Early reports from fire officials say the fire started in the basement of the Manor Hotel and then spread to the adjoining Waverly Hotel.
