Wildfire Double-Trouble In So. Cal.

Comments Off

TWO RAPIDLY-GROWING WILDFIRES BROKE OUT this weekend in southern California that will be making news today.  Both of them have already caused mandatory evacuations in some communities and are drawing massive resources early on.

The Butler #2 Fire

This fire was first reported at 1:20 pm on Friday afternoon in the Big Bear Lake area of San Bernardino County.  This fire literally exploded and consumed 18,000 acres in the first 24 hours.  Mandatory evacuations have already been ordered in several localities and multiple residences have already been lost.

The Butler #2 fire is already rated the Number One priority in the nation, which means they get any resources they need immediately.  The DC-10 super-tanker was in use yesterday already.  So far, they have deployed 600 firefighters, 4 helicopters and 7 planes, including the super-tanker.
