THERE HAS BEEN A GROWING CRISIS in the Tucson, Arizona hospital emergency rooms. The normal practice there has been for specialist physicians who are affilitated with the hospital to take rotations on ER duty. Now some of the hospitals are trying to reverse the trend by paying the specialists to be on duty in the ER’s. Some people in the local health business think that this might be financially fatal for some of the hospitals.
