We have a long history of ambulance busses in Toronto Ontario. However, I am more in favor of transit conversions. This allows a regular transit bus to be converted into a high occupancy ambulance.

Geezer,

Your concept of "mass casualty transit" is not a new one. I am in the AF Reserves and have been for the last 18 years and we have been using an "Ambus" as long as I can remember. Prior to using a bus, the military has used numerous vehicles to convey it's wounded. Some vehicles such as a "Cracker Box" ambulance that holds 4 litters (5 if you put one on the floor), a hummer, a flat bed truck and so on. I am surprised it has taken the civillian sector this long to figure it out.

Thanks for pointing out the mission of my unit. Our motto is "to comfort and transport".

Thanks,
Michele

[...] The Geezerguys are going to be talking some more about this operation during the next week as the details come out. Meanwhile, I urge you to read the Chief’s interview, linked above, and if you haven’t done so already, go back and read LightRock’s Thursday post on what some departments are doing to prepare for mass casualty transportation (HERE).
