3 Killed in Syracuse House Fire

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED this morning to a house fire that ended up being fatal for 3 of the residents.  Newsday reports that two of the victims were brother, ages 11 and 12.  They were found together and apparently attempting to escape.  The third victim was a family friend who was spending the night and sleeping in an unfinished attic with access only from the back of the home.  Seven other occupants escaped, some by leaping from the 2nd story.

Investigators have determined the location and cause of fire to an enclosed porch where somebody was working on a mini-bike inside.  A can of gasoline was next to it.

Two Syracuse firefighters were taken to a hospital, one for treatment of heat exhaustion, the other for minor burns. Both were later released.
