Old Fire Bell Hangs Once Again in Lancaster
LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA’S OLD FIRE BELL is hanging again at Station 3. Cast in Baltimore in 1885, it remained in service until 1954. For years it has been stored in the City Parks garage. But thanks to the efforts of the firefighters, a memorial park dedicated to the City’s fallen firefighters has been built at the new Station 3 with the old bell as the focal point.
They had a nice dedication ceremony on Saturday and WGAL-TV channel 8 has a video of it HERE (go ahead and click on the white space, it’ll play).
