Former NASCAR Chairman Bill France, Jr. Dies at age 74
BILL FRANCE, JR., WHO IS CREDITED WITH propelling the stock car racing sanctioning body into the big leagues of spectator sports events, passed away yesterday from complications associated with cancer. After he took over the NASCAR firm from his father in 1972, he launched one of the most successful marketing campaigns known in modern times.
